Focused Story Films is a commercial videography company created with a vision to serve the fashion, fitness, performing arts, and creative communities in the Kansas City area and beyond.
Focused Story Films’ founder and lead creative, Brian Elliott, has been creating video content since 2005, and has been heavily involved in the arts and fitness communities throughout that time. His passion for creating amazing content is married with years of experience understanding the sort of content that creative, fashion and fitness brands need to stand out in a highly competitive modern market. With such a specific focus (yes we see what we did there) on these three often connected industries, we’re able to be experts in what we do and get to know the industry far better than most media professionals who spread out their content creation across a wider array of industries.
When I created Focused Story Films, and as I refined the vision of what I wanted it to be, I was constantly drawn to shooting movement, action, and arts. As a ballroom dancer and creative, I love living in a space of creativity and collaboration. No dance is danced alone, and no video is created in a vacuum. I believe in collaborating with business owners to build a shared vision for their content that is both gorgeous and functional.
As a business owner, I believe it’s my job to build relationships with other business owners and learn as much as I can about their specific business to maximize the effectiveness of everything I do.
My goal is to take your fitness, fashion, or performing arts businesses and transform its media presence to elevate online engagement and your bottom line. I’d love to join you as a fellow artist and partner in your business growth journey.
Currently I live with my dog Ali. She loves to sleep on my lap while I work, play tug of war, and go on walks. When I’m not working, I’m practicing my ballroom and swing dancing, working on short films, or hanging out with my dog.

Focused Story Films did an amazing job with my video! It was such an easy process – he helped solidify my ideas into something tangible and meaningful. He was very organized to where filming day wasn’t stressful, but a lot of fun! He rolls with the punches and was very open and receptive to my vision!Molly Allison
Brian Elliott is the owner and lead cinematographer of Focused Story Films. While growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Brian developed a love of art, nature and beauty that fueled his creativity. He also developed a strong sense of compassion and concern for social justice. From a young age he expressed himself through drawing, painting, and writing. In 2005 he discovered film as a medium for storytelling and began learning every aspect of the craft. He also was heavily involved in his local theater programs throughout high school.
After graduating high school in 2010, Brian moved to St. Louis to continue his film studies at Southwestern Illinois College. In 2012 he graduated top of his class and produced two award winning short films. It was during film school that he honed his craft and began building Focused Story Films. In 2013 he moved to Kansas City.
It was during this time that Brian also developed an interest in personal fitness. In 2015 he took his first ballroom dance lesson and fell in love with the art of dance. Through this passion he became involved in working with dancers and studios to produce content for them. It was not long after this that Brian began working with boutique fashion brands to communicate their branding.
Currently Brian resides in Lenexa, Kansas with his dog Ali, who enjoys sleeping on his lap, going on walks, and running around his apartment at top speed randomly. When he isn’t creating content or out on the dance floor, Brian enjoys watching high concept television and producing his own short films.
